Fluctuating Google Cache Dates Due to Aging Delay

If you are seeing Google cache dates current one day and then revert to an old date the next day, you are not alone. SER has been watching this with a few of our newer sites.

We believe it is due to the aging delay. The reason your home page is being cached and then reverted back to an old date is because you get followed by a different domain, where the googlebot caches you when they cache the site you're are linked off of. Then the googlebot that spideres new domains that are in their 6 months babysitting period comes along and says, "woah you ain't suposed to be indexed so fast like the big boys" and reverts you back to the aging delay cache cycle.

So basically your caching that occurs from external linking will not last till you are "all growns up" and out of your aging phase.
