Big Daddy is Still Hurting

It appears the Google "Big Daddy" algo update is still working its way through the web. While some of the effects are getting rid of a lot of spam sites from showing up in the top rankings, it is still causing indexing problems for other sites.

It seems to be putting a lot of 3rd level (3 clicks from the home page of a site) and lower pages into the supplemental index. I believe it is doing this because of Google strong attack on poorly linked pages. To Google if the page is not linked to internally or externally then it is not important. I believe they are strongly looking at similar anchor text on the links pointing to your pages. If they only way to get to a page is from a side nav that is the same on the entire site then that shows Google that the only links to those deep pages are using the same anchor text and therefore they must not be as important.

Crosslink and diversify your anchor text on your internal linking!
